Man charged with murder in connection to three deaths at two Calgary homes
The Homicide Unit is investigating the suspicious deaths of three people who were found in two separate residences in Calgary on Tuesday afternoon and a 25-year-old Calgary man is facing murder charges.
A woman was discovered dead in a home in the 2000 block of Applevillage Court S.E. at about 11:00 a.m. and the bodies of a man and a woman were found in a Hidden Valley area home a short time later.
A black car was removed from the Applewood Park scene and a silver Hyundai was taken from the driveway of a home on Hidden Valley Dr. N.W. for further examination.
A man was taken into custody in the southeast and police say they are not looking for any other suspects.
Dustin Duthie, 25, is charged with three counts of second-degree murder.
CTV Calgary has learned that Duthie is being held under a suicide watch at Rockyview Hospital.
The three victims have been identified as Taylor Toller, Shawn Boshuck and Alan Pennylegion.
According to court documents, Toller’s body had been in the AppleWood Park condo for a week and police allege she was killed on July 25.
Police believe Boschuk and Pennylegion were killed on Tuesday.
CTV has confirmed that Duthie is the son of Boshuk and step-son of Pennylegion and friends say he was Toller's fiancé.
Family friends of Boschuk and Pennylegion say she worked as a nurse and he was in sales.
The causes of death have not yet been determined and autopsies on the three victims are expected to be completed in the next few days.
Duthie is scheduled to appear in court on August 8 where it will be determined if a 30-day psychiatric assessment should be ordered.
