Police have now charged a man in connection with a violent stabbing outside Flames Central early Sunday morning.

At around 2:30 a.m., emergency crews were called to the 200 block of 8 Avenue S.W. for reports of a stabbing.

When they got there, they found three people suffering from various injuries. One of the victims was sent to Foothills in life-threatening condition while the others were sent to Rockyview for treatment of minor injuries.

Police say that due to the sheer size of the fight, they were quickly able to locate and arrest the alleged offender.

Billy Ly, 24, has been charged with:

  • Two counts of aggravated assault
  • Three counts of breaches of conditions

He is expected to appear in court on February 17.

Investigators are continuing to work on details in the case and ask anyone who may have information, including photos or video of the incident, to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
