Calgary police have charged three teens in connection with a series of armed robberies in the northwest.

Police laid the charges after a three month investigation which involved the execution of several search warrants.

The charges relate to several robberies at:

  • The Esso store at 6510 Country Hills Blvd N.W. on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011.
  • The Dalhousie Liquor Depot, located at 5005 Dalhousie Dr. N.W. on Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, Saturday, Dec. 10, Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011 and Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012.

Harris James Howard, 18, of Calgary is charged with seven counts of robbery with a firearm and five counts of being disguised with intent.

Kute Mwangi, 19, of Calgary is charged with three counts of robbery with a firearm and three counts of public mischief.

A 17-year-old male, who cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with one count of robbery with a firearm and one count of disguised with intent.

Another man, Dillon Green, 18, is also facing charges in relation to the Esso robbery on December 3 and was previously charged by police.

Police say they were assisted by tips from the public.

Investigators believe that other persons were involved in these offences and are continuing their investigation.
