A southern Alberta woman accused of abducting her own children has made her first court appearance in Lethbridge.

Last week, police issued an AMBER alert in B.C. and Alberta saying they had concerns about the well-being of two girls who they believed were abducted by their biological mother, Trina Meisel .

Officials at an elementary school in Brant, Alberta called RCMP on Monday, May 12, 2014 after the girls did not return to their classroom after recess.

Meisel did not have legal guardianship of the girls and a warrant was issued for her arrest on two counts of abduction.

The trio was located two days later in a campground in Boston Bar, 150 kilometres northeast of Vancouver.

Trina Meisel was arrested and taken into custody and the two girls were returned to family.

Meisel, 48, appeared on the charges in a Lethbridge courtroom by closed circuit television.

Her case was set over for a bail hearing.
