A Calgary family says Ottawa is finally helping them get justice.

On January 6th, Leo Del Pinto was shot and killed in Thailand. An off-duty police officer is charged with premeditated murder. The officer is no longer on duty but there is still no trial date.

Since the 24-year-old's death, the Del Pinto's have been asking the Canadian government to monitor the investigation and keep them informed.

On Monday, the Del Pinto family met with the Canadian ambassador to Thailand and say they now feel more assured about how the government is handling the case. "I'm sure something is going to come out of this," says Ernie Del Pinto, Leo's father.

The family hopes to meet with Thailand's ambassador next month.
