The Western Art Auction was held at the Stampede Grounds on Thursday night and the original of the 2014 Calgary Stampede Poster was the highlight of the sale.

The painting titled “Pulling Together” is the work of Calgary artist Adeline Halvorson and honours working horses and the role they played in the development of the West.

The President of the Calgary Stampede says it takes on a special significance this year given how everyone pulled together to get this year’s Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth up and running.

The painting sold for a whopping $125,000 and was purchased by a local couple  .

It was the 32nd year for the event and over 100 pieces of western themed art by artists from all over the world were up for grabs.
