A popular riverside eatery is asking the public to watch out for a custom patio set swiped just days ahead of its liquor launch.

Angel’s Cappuccino & Ice Cream owner Cathy Jacobs says she noticed the couch, two chairs and coffee table missing Tuesday, likely putting them out some outdoor seating when they start serving liquor on Friday.

“You know the cafe is really popular and we’re doing everything just to manage the amount of visitors and stuff but you’ve got to have a place for people to sit and unfortunately a big piece of that had been taken away.”

She said it is a $2500 set that has been around since she opened Angel’s 22 years ago.

She posted the theft of the furniture on Facebook hoping the recognizable pieces with custom cushions might be recovered.

“If it shows up in somebody’s back patio you’re going to know it, it’s pretty unique.”

She says it’s not the kind you find in the store but she did buy some new furniture ahead of Friday’s liquor launch.

“There will be champagne and orange juice ready for people at 10 a.m. and in the evenings we’ll have live music and yes, we’re going to celebrate a long journey overcoming many battles.”

The café was forced to relocate several metres due to safety concerns found in 2015 regarding how its deck enveloped the guidelines of nearby power poles.

Construction started in 2018 and the cafe re-opened in March 2019.
