Calgary Police descended in force on a southwest electronics store after they received reports of a truck attempting to batter its way through the doors on Thursday morning.

They say two men, one in an SUV and the other inside a pick up truck, were attempting to break into the Sony store in West Hills Shopping Centre at around 1:30 a.m.

Police caught them in the act, spotting the truck slamming repeatedly into the loading dock to get into the store.

The SUV took off, speeding towards Glenmore Trail while the driver of the pick up truck fled the scene on foot.

He didn’t get far; K-9 units tracked him down to where he was hiding behind a dumpster.

Police are still looking for the driver of the SUV.

They say that the two men also tried to break into the Visions store in Richmond Square and Brown’s Grocery Store in northwest Calgary.

Police say the suspects attempted to break into the Brown's Grocery Store, in the 1200 block of 20 Ave. N.W. at 12:50 a.m.

After that, the suspects broken into the Visions Electronics in the 3900 block of 51 St. S.W.

At both scenes, they tried to ram their way in with the vehicles.

Charges are pending against the man in custody.

Police continue to look for a stolen, white Range Rover SUV with the licence plate ZMF 125.

Investigators are working to determine what was stolen from each business.
