Police say the man wanted in connection with the shooting of a woman in northwest Calgary has been arrested in Ontario.

Ulises Boris Quinteros, 51, was arrested in Ontario early Monday morning.

At about 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, police were called to a scene in the 0-100 block of Tuscany Springs Hill N.W. for reports of a shooting.

When they got there, they found a woman in her 40s suffering from serious injuries sustained in what they are calling a targeted shooting.

Investigators believe two vehicles were driving along Tuscany Springs Hill N.W. when one vehicle rammed into the other.

The woman was then shot, with the other vehicle fleeing the scene. The woman called 911.

She was transported to hospital where she is currently listed in critical but stable condition.

Police say Quinteros and the victim knew each other, but they are not saying anything else about their relationship.

There is no information on when he will be transported back to Alberta.

Quinteros faces a number of charges including:

  • Attempted murder
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Discharge of firearm with intent to wound, maim, disfigure
  • Choking with intent
  • Break and enter with the intent to harass
