The search for a 24-year-old Calgary mother is officially over after an autopsy confirmed the human remains located in a ditch near Balzac on Monday were those of Jessica Rae Newman.

On Saturday, Calgary Police Service officials released autopsy results confirming Newman’s death was a homicide. A specific cause of death has not been released.

Newman was last seen in the southeast community of Forest Lawn on the evening of Tuesday, March 10, 2015.

On Monday afternoon, police responded to a rural location outside of Balzac after a work crew discovered Newman’s remains near the intersection of Range Road 285 and Township Road 264.
