The Medical Examiner has completed an autopsy and police have identified the woman found dead in Fish Creek Park on Monday.

The body of 38-year-old Laura Gulia Furlan was found just before noon on Labour Day near the north entrance to the park near Bow Bottom Trail.

A man who was walking his dog made the gruesome find and police say the body had been there for some time.

Police say they don't yet know if Furlan died where they found her body or if she was dumped there.

Furlan was reported missing by her family on August 31, 2009 and police are trying to determine where she was in the days leading up to the discovery of her body.

Furlan is described as 170 cm or 5'7" tall, 54 Kg or120 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair and she often went by the nickname Lily.

Furlan lived and worked in the downtown core and was last heard from on Monday, Aug. 24, 2009.

The cause of death is not being released due to investigative reasons but her death is considered suspicious and the Homicide Unit is leading the investigation.
