Calgary Police have positively identified the fifth homicide victim of 2013 following an autopsy on Monday.

The Medical Examiner’s Office says that John Gordon Walmsley, 42, of Calgary, died as a result of stab wounds.

Police were called to the vicinity of 4 St. and Dermot Baldwin Way at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday for reports of a fight.

They soon found an unconscious man suffering from multiple stab wounds and had him transported to hospital in life-threatening condition.

Walmsley later died in hospital.

Police say that there were a number of people who may have witnessed or may know something about the incident.

They also say they're not sure if the fight was one on one or if it involved a number of people.

Investigators are currently going over surveillance video taken by the City of Calgary and the Drop In Centre, where Walmsley's body was later found.

However, they hope that someone will come forward and provide them with the information they need to make an arrest.
