Calgary police are investigating after a man's body was found in the southeast community of Forest Lawn on Wednesday morning.

At about 5:55 a.m., police were called by a resident in the community who found a person lying on the ground near 26 Avenue, between 42 and 43 Street S.E.

The Homicide Unit was called in to investigate and police shut down traffic to the area for several hours to conduct their investigation.

One woman, who is stuck in the center of the crime scene because the body was found just in front of her home, says she was shocked when police descended on the area.

"I didn't hear nothing but when I sent my son to school this morning he came back in and said 'I can't go to school, it's all blocked off, mom'. I asked the cops and the cops told me that there's a dead guy slumped over in front of my house," said April Jacquarv. "It was under a blanket when I came out. The police told me that they've got it all blocked off, they don't know what is going on right now. They don't know if it's foul play or not."

Jacquarv says the situation is 'freaky'. "I'm more worried about my son, he's 12. The body was covered but I'm not too sure what he's thinking at this moment."

She says she didn't hear anything over and she knows that police have spoken with neighbours who said they didn't hear anything either. "I don't know what happened."
