Calgary police are investigating after the body of a man was found in an alley in the Harvest Hills area on Thursday morning.

Police were called to the 9700 block of Harvest Hills Link N.E. at about 8:30 a.m. after a passerby discovered the dead man.

The Homicide Unit is investigating and are considering the death to be suspicious. Police are working to determine what led up to the man's death.

“One witness in the area reports hearing some type of disturbance around 2:30, but we’re not sure it it’s related or not,” said Inspector Don Coleman, of the Major Crimes Section. "There would be signs of violence, yes."

Alanna Loewen lives in the area and says she was taking her children to school when she noticed the police activity.

"At about 8:30, I was taking my kids to school when all of a sudden a bunch of cop cars started coming in with sirens and blocking all the alleys. It's pretty much all I saw until I came back and there were more cars and tape."

Police are canvassing the area for video and witnesses.

“There is a couple of witnesses in the area that have been interviewed and what we would like is anybody who believes they saw anything throughout the course of last night and into this morning in that area comes forward and anybody who has any information at all, who possesses CCTV from their residence or knows anything related to this, that they come forward with that information,” said Coleman.
