Calgary police are investigating the unexplained death of a baby at a home in the community of Dover.
Emergency crews were called out to a home in the 3600 block of 28 Ave S.E. just before 1:00 a.m. Wednesday and discovered the body of a seven-month-old baby.
EMS pronounced the baby dead at the scene.
The Medical Examiner has labeled the death ‘unexplained’ and authorities are interviewing family members and witnesses.
A neighbour says the incident took her by surprise. "I came home late last night after work and there was nothing. Then, at about 1 o'clock I looked out my window and there was a bunch of emergency vehicles. I didn't hear any sirens. I wasn't sure what was going on," says Jennifer McKinley.
There is no word yet on a cause of death and an autopsy will likely take place on Thursday.
