Calgary police are looking for a man who is believed to have helped with the sale of a gun that was used in a double murder on the May Long Weekend.

Anees Ismail Amr, 26, and Colin Brendan Reitberger, 23, both of Calgary, were shot and killed in the parking lot of a southeast Superstore on May 21, 2017.

Police believe that the victims arrived at the parking lot together and were joined by a third man who came in a separate vehicle.

In June, Christian Joffre Ouellette, 20, of Calgary, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

On Thursday, police released new information in the case and are looking for a man who is believed to have assisted in selling Ouellette a gun a few days before the murders.

Police say the man goes by the name of ‘Tyson’ and say they have not been able bring him in for questioning in the case.

“In terms of this person by the name of Tyson, we know that there’s people in the community that know who this person is. We’re asking if anyone does know this person, there are people that, it’s just like having a small group or a pocket of friends or people that are known to one another, and they know who this person is and we want someone to come forward, whether it’s through our tip line or whether it’s through Crime Stoppers anonymously so that we can help identify this person to continue to move this investigation forward,” said Acting Inspector Paul Wozney. “We had a brief, brief contact with this person but it’s very difficult to track them down when we have limited description and identity of him. So again, we’re going down the right track. Investigators are continuing to follow leads and this is what I would describe as a significant lead in this investigation.”

Police say the investigation is moving forward but they believe more people were involved.

“We are getting closer. We do know that there’s other people that are involved in this offence and we’re doing our best to try and track those down. I want to add that investigators have conducted dozens and dozens of interviews as part of this investigation and every time we conduct an interview more information comes up and we need to follow that information up,” said Wozney.

Wozney says that a yellow, Ford Escape that was identified in previous media availability is not involved.

“The registered owner of that Ford Escape came forward and we were able to eliminate that person as a person that was involved in this investigation. And the reason I mention that is to certainly have some feedback for the community but also to reinforce that the reason that we do these availabilities and the reason why we release the information that we release is because we have tremendous support of our community and the cooperation in moving these investigations forward and this really is an example of that.”

Investigators are asking anyone who may have arranged the gun deal or who may have been present when it went down to contact them.

Police are also still looking for a 2004 to 2006, red, Dodge Durango, that was used to drop off the accused at a gas station following the murders.
