A number of collectors’ items have been seized from a Calgary home in connection to an investigation into stolen property and police are hoping to return the pieces to the rightful owners.

Investigators kept an eye on a suspect for nine days and say he conducted a number of drug and stolen property transactions near his home during that time.

On February 28, the man was arrested and a search warrant was executed on a home in the 1800 block of 34 Avenue S.W.

Police recovered the following items:

  • Drugs including cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl and cannabis, with a street value of approximately $22,984
  • Drug paraphernalia including scales and baggies
  • Counterfeit U.S. currency
  • Various stolen property including two mountain bikes
  • Weapons including; knives, swords, three handguns, a rifle and a shotgun

A number of collectors’ items were also seized including:

  • An autographed and framed Gordie Howe jersey
  • An autographed Tragically Hip picture
  • An autographed Sass Jordan electric guitar
  • Vintage comic books
  • Hockey and trading cards
  • Antique watches

“It is significant due to the number of dangerous weapons that you see in front of you including the five firearms that were seized. A large quantity of drugs and cash was seized as well and then some unique items that obviously have a great deal of value to them,” said Inspector Joe Brar of the Calgary Police Service Investigative Operations Section.

John Christopher Fraser, 43, of Calgary, is charged with a total of 37 criminal code offences including:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Proceeds of crime
  • Possession of stolen property under $5,000
  • Possession of counterfeit money
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Unlawfully possess weapon dangerous to the public
  • Possess firearm without a licence
  • Unlawfully possess restricted firearm
  • Unlawfully possess firearm knowing it is obtained by a commission of an offence
  • Breach of a firearms prohibition order
  • Breach of a recognizance

Police are working to determine who owns the memorabilia so they can return it.
