A Canada Post supervisor has been charged with stealing gift cards from the mail at the city's main sorting depot.

Angela Scott, 44, was arrested in mid-December after she was caught on a business's security camera, trying to use a gift card that had been reported stolen.

Two other gift cards were found in her possession and police say she admitted to using many more cards over the past several months.

Police estimate the total value of the gift cards was between $800 and $1,000.

Scott makes her first court appearance later this month.

Canada Post says she is no longer an employee.
