The Beiseker RCMP detachment is asking for information from the public after a stolen vehicle was involved in a Friday morning crash on a highway west of Drumheller.

According to RCMP, emergency crews were called to a location on Highway 21 near the village of Carbon at 9:00 a.m. following reports of a vehicle rollover. When first responders arrived, witnesses said the three occupants of the 2010 Toyota 4-Runner, two males and a female, had left the scene after hitching a ride with a southbound motorist.

RCMP members determined the 4-Runner had been reported stolen in Airdrie in December. A search of the crash scene resulted in the discovery of an unsecured firearm that officers believe was stolen.

Investigators would like to speak to the driver who offered the trio a ride.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Beiseker RCMP detachment at 403-947-3420 or Crime Stoppers
