RCMP release new details in Airdrie murder
Investigators say a woman who was murdered in her Airdrie home last week was stabbed to death.
Andrea Conroy, 33, was found dead inside her Bayside area home on Friday, February 24 after police conducted a check on welfare.
The next day her ex-boyfriend, and only suspect in the murder, Rick Doucette was found dead at a motel in Nanton.
Police say he took his own life.
Doucette had a long criminal history which included jail time for trying to kill his girlfriend in Ontario and repeated cases of domestic abuse.
The Medical Examiner concluded that Conroy died as a result of stab wounds.
Police say that there is no evidence to suggest that Conroy was held hostage prior to her death.
