Former Calgary Stampeder Joffrey Reynolds has been found guilty of assault in an incident where he attacked his ex-girlfriend in her apartment last July.

Reynolds, 33, was charged with assault, assault causing bodily harm, and entering with intent after an incident last July.

The judge convicted the former All-Star CFL player on all counts.

His ex-girlfriend Kaitlin Ward says he attacked her and tried to choke her when she came home and found him in her bed.

Ward showed several bruises and there was evidence earlier that evening that Reynolds kicked her in the back of the leg.

Reynolds claims the incident was fuelled by her jealous rage and all he did was try to subdue her and calm her down.

He is out on bail and will be sentenced in April.
