The Calgary Roughnecks are hoping a new sweater will result in a change of luck following a rough start to the team's 2015 NLL season.

The Riggers have been on the wrong end of a number of unlucky bounces which has the team sitting in last place in the NLL West division with an 0-4 record.

“We don’t know if a jersey can change your luck but we’re a desperate team looking for our first win this weekend against Buffalo,” said Board. “We’ve lost two one goal games which could go either way but in the other games we’ve made defensive errors.”

On Friday, the lacrosse team unveiled its jersey; a black design with Calgary emblazoned across the chest above a metallic R attacked to an oil derrick. The red trimmed sweater includes the Roughnecks logo on both shoulders.

“We put some of the secondary logo, the ‘R’, on a bunch of our guys’ gear and they loved it,” said Roughnecks GM Mike Board. “We thought ‘Hey, maybe we can work with this design’. We thought we’d replace the black (jerseys) with this one and here we are with the big ‘R’ on the front and our city’s name on the front.”

The Roughnecks will don their alternate jerseys for this Saturday’s tilt at the Scotiabank Saddledome against the Buffalo Bandits and during future matchups against the Toronto Rock (March 28) and Colorado Mammoth (April 4)

The jerseys are available for sale at FanAttic locations and at FanAttic
