Council will debate 26 applications for secondary suites on Monday as the city continues to struggle with the issue.

Attempts to allow secondary suites have failed in the past for various reasons, including parking concerns, property maintenance and zoning regulations. Mayor Naheed Nenshi has in the past made it clear that he supports secondary suites, and says that he is frustrated with the current process.

The city has tried several approaches to secondary suites, such as re-zoning select areas, and asking homeowners to upgrade existing suites to code.

On Monday, council will hold a marathon meeting in order to address the 26 applications one by one.
