Calgarians across the city will be waking up to a blanket of snow throughout their neighbourhoods on Friday.
The snow is still coming down and another five cm is expected to fall by the end of the day.
A snowfall warning remains in effect for many communities in southern Alberta.
City crews have been out all night plowing and sanding priority routes. Once those are clear, the city will then move to residential areas.
All routes in the city are snow covered so there is expected to be many slippery spots.
Despite the huge amount of snow, police say there were much fewer incidents than there were on Thursday.
According to police, there were three injury and 20 non-injury crashes reported between midnight and 9 a.m. on Friday.
Police advise that drivers heading into work today should take extra time and leave space between vehicles while on the road.
Despite Mother Nature dropping upwards of 16 cm on the road, residents who live on snow routes will not need to worry about moving their vehicles.
The city says they are conducting technical upgrades that are getting in the way of notifying residents of issuing a parking ban.
Area highways are also considered to be in poor condition, so extra care should be taken if you have to come in from out of town.
But the winter weather isn't all bad for this time of year. Three major Alberta ski resorts are set to open on Friday.
Sunshine Village posted some photos of condtions on the mountain, saying it has had above average snowfalls and significant powder already.
Lake Louise and Marmot Basin at Jasper are also open.
Mount Norquay and Nakiska opened late last month.
