It’s just under a week to go until Remembrance Day, but a number of veterans and Calgary students are paying their respects to those who gave their lives in service to Canada in a unique way.
On Thursday at the Burnsland Cemetery, students, along with Canadian Forces personnel, are placing poppies on the gravestones of all service members in the Field of Honour.
It’s all part of the ‘No Stone Left Alone’ event that began in Edmonton a few years ago and is slowing spreading.
It’s certainly struck a chord with the students who took part. “I owe these people a lot for keeping this country free. For fighting in wars so we don’t have to.”
Organizers are hoping that it will become a regular part of Remembrance Day observances.
