The Medicine Hat Police Service has identified the man who allegedly sexually assaulted a Medicine Hat taxi driver before driving his victim to Calgary and stealing her work vehicle.

According to the Medicine Hat Police Service, 28-year-old Shawn Thomas Baldhead is wanted in connection with:

  • Sexual assault with a weapon
  • Unlawful confinement
  • Robbery
  • Uttering threats to cause death (three counts)
  • Breaches of undertaking (two counts)

Baldhead is concerned armed-and-dangerous and members of the public are asked to avoid confrontation the wanted man.

On Thursday night, a female taxi driver picked up a fare in downtown Medicine Hat. At the destination, the passenger attacked the driver and took control of the taxi van. The suspect allegedly drove the woman to a location in Riverside where he sexually assaulted her.

The man proceeded to drive the stolen minivan and the cab company employee to Calgary where he dropped his victim off at an undisclosed location.

The stolen taxi van has not been located.

The stolen taxi is described as:

  • A blue, 2005 Dodge Caravan minivan
  • With ‘Deluxe Taxi’ markings including ‘Unit #41’
  • With Alberta licence plate K54924
