Calgary police say a man charged in a gruesome torture case may have other victims.

Police say there are "parallel investigations" taking place involving individuals who have come forward, but they're not releasing details at this time.

Dustin Paxton was arrested Tuesday night in Edmonton.

The landlord who rented him a room is shocked to find out his tenant was a wanted man.

Rick Guile says Paxton said his name was Jon Roach and that he'd moved to Edmonton from Vancouver for work. Guyl says he was very helpful, mowing the lawn and cleaning floors.

Paxton was arrested after two Canada-wide warrants were issued for him, one from Regina and another from Calgary.

Paxton is accused of confining and torturing a 26-year-old man, who was dropped off at a Regina hospital near death in April.

The 245 pound man weighed just 87 pounds.

The alleged victim and Paxton were roommates in Calgary and operated a small moving company together.

He was reported missing in February. It's believed the alleged victim was taken to Regina, where he was assaulted over a two-year period.

He has a brain injury and will need to undergo reconstructive surgery to repair damage to the lower half of his face.

He could be released from hospital this week.

His family is relieved to hear news of the arrest.
