The vehicle that Calgary Police seized in the northeast on Thursday night has nothing to do with a fatal hit and run earlier this week.

A dark coloured sedan with damage matching what the suspect vehicle would have sustained was found on Thursday night in northeast Calgary.

Police say they questioned the driver and further investigation ruled out the car as being involved in the crash on Wednesday.

On Thursday morning, police charged 24-year-old Steven Vanasse with hit and run causing death.

Vanasse came forward to police on Wednesday morning; one hour after 56-year-old Wong Shuk Yee was struck and killed while she was crossing Sandstone Dr. N.W. in a marked crosswalk.

Yee was actually hit twice and police believe the second vehicle dragged her 50 metres along the road.

A neighbour held her hand as she died.

She says she is shocked at the lack of compassion from people in the city.

Police are continuing their investigation and will release more information later on Friday.

Anyone with any information about this collision is urged to call police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers anonymously using any of the following methods:
