Calgary police have released the identity of the man who died after a shooting at a northeast residence on Friday morning.

Police say two men forced their way into a home in the 100 block of Martinvalley Mews N.E. at about 10:50 a.m., on Friday and shot the two people inside.

Tariq Sikandar, 24, of Calgary, suffered fatal injuries and died as a result of the shooting.

A second man also suffered gunshot wounds and was initially taken to hospital in critical condition.

The 30-year-old man has since been upgraded to stable but has yet to be interviewed by investigators.

Police have not established a motive for the shooting but say that they do not believe it is a random incident.

"We believe that this house is involved in drugs in some capacity. Our investigation is still working to help determine exactly to what extent. I think the circumstances around this shooting lend itself to persons involved in a high-risk lifestyle and that is one avenue we are pursuing," said CPS S/Sgt. Grant Miller.

Forensic investigators spent the weekend going over the scene but police are not releasing further details at this time.

Investigators say they are looking for two men and are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers anonymously, using any of the following methods:
