Police were called to a Calgary high school after a person was allegedly spotted with a gun.

It happened around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Sir Winston Churchill High School in the northwest.

The doors of the school were locked after someone reported seeing a young person outside with a gun. Some reported seeing a young person with a baton.

The school was partially locked down, and other schools in the area were also locked down, while police searched for the suspect.

Officers believed the boy may have taken off in a vehicle.

Police tracked the suspect to a home in the Bowness area.

Police say one young person is in custody and is being interviewed.

At this point police have not been able to confirm if a gun was involved in the incident.
