The difficulties of smoke forecasting have been admittedly flustering. Just yesterday, we saw a pattern in which it appeared we'd get a break from the smoke on the weekend. Now it appears the opposite will happen...the smoke will get thicker Friday night and Saturday morning. It will take a bit longer than first thought for the upper level wind to divert smoke away from us. Rain will fall on the fires in the western US Friday and Saturday. It remains to be seen if there will be a significant effect on the fires and smoke. Otherwise, Calgary will experience mostly warmer than average weather over the next few days, with no chance of significant rain.
