The Toronto Raptors remain one win away from making history and thousands of Canadians gathered Monday night hoping to watch Canada’s only NBA team win its first championship.

The Raptors took on the Golden State Warriors in Game 5 of the NBA Finals in Toronto on Monday night and Calgarians watched the action at a number of viewing parties in the city. Raptors faithful looking to celebrate a title were disappointed by the team's 106-105 loss.

YYCFoodTrucks, East Village Calgary and Genesis Basketball hosted an outdoor party and showed the game on a big screen in East Village from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. The venue is on the south side of the George C. King Bridge and the all-ages event was free.

Cineplex showed the game live at select theatres. Admission was free and limited to two tickets per person.

The Rec Room in the city’s northeast also hosted a viewing party. Doors opened at 7 p.m. and the event was also free.

The Raptors and Warriors will renew hostilities in Oakland Thursday night for Game 6.
