A special weather statement has been issued for sections of southern Alberta as up to 25 centimetres of snow is expected to fall by Wednesday evening and stay well into the holiday season.

As of Sunday afternoon, the following regions are expected to bare the wrath of an impending cold front set to arrive in the coming hours:

CTV Calgary weather specialist Warren Dean says cold air will arrive in Calgary from the northeast and, combined with a pulse of moisture from the Pacific Ocean, will bring considerable snow from Monday to Wednesday. The snow is expected to start early Monday.

In addition to the snow, Dean says Calgary and southern Alberta will face a drop in temperature as the week progresses with daily highs ranging from -6C to -11C.
