A Saturday afternoon polo match came to an abrupt halt when a female rider was thrown from her horse.
According to RCMP, the incident occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m. at a private location near the hamlet of Millarville. The rider, a woman in her 60’s, suffered undisclosed injuries in the fall.
EMS members were called to the scene but the severity of the woman’s injuries prompted the deployment of STARS Air Ambulance.
The woman was transported by helicopter to Foothills Hospital in life threatening condition.
RCMP continue to investigate the incident.
Millarville is located 35 kilometres southwest of Calgary.
