RCMP have released a surveillance camera image of the suspect in a recent theft in the hope the public will recognize the alleged offender.

On the afternoon of Monday, November 19, truck keys were removed from the locker room of a twin arena in Airdrie. The theft victim assumed he had misplaced his keys and did not report the truck keys stolen until Tuesday morning.

Officers determined the thief used the stolen keys to gain access to the victim’s truck outside of the arena and removed several credit cards and pieces of identification from the victim’s wallet.

In the hours following the theft, the suspect attempted to use a stolen credit card to purchase prepaid credit cards and gas cards totaling $1,200 at a Shoppers Drug Mart location in Airdrie. The transaction was not completed as the suspect did not have the personal identification number for the stolen credit card.

RCMP describe the suspect as a fair skinned, Caucasian male.

A surveillance camera image from the Shoppers Drug Mart shows the suspect wearing a red, black and white baseball cap and a medium blue jacket at the time of the attempted fraudulent purchase.

Anyone with information about the identity of the theft and fraud suspect is asked to contact the Airdrie RCMP detachment, 403-945-7200, or Crime Stoppers.
