Some of the country’s biggest barbecue enthusiasts are getting their grill on in Calgary.

The 22nd Annual BBQ on the Bow kicked off Saturday at the Eau Claire Festival Market Plaza.

It’s one of the oldest barbecue competitions in Canada.

Dozens of Canadian and U.S. teams competed to make the best chicken, pork ribs, pork butt and brisket.

This year’s competition was an official qualifying event for the World Food Championships. The winner gets to grill at the World BBQ Championship held in Las Vegas in November.

The grilling action continues on Sunday.
