A 17-year-old boy has been arrested following an early morning stabbing during a house party on the O’Chiese First Nation near Rocky Mountain House.

According to RCMP, shortly after 1:00 a.m., a fight broke out in the home involving a number of party guests. During the skirmish, the 17-year-old suspect stabbed a 17-year-old resident of the home. Two other guests suffered minor cuts during the attack.

Police and EMS responded to the home following a call to 911.

The stabbing victim was airlifted by STARS Air Ambulance to a Calgary area hospital in stable condition. The victim’s mother was out of town during the party but has been notified of her son’s injuries.

The suspect in the stabbing attack was arrested at the scene by members of the Rocky Mountain House RCMP. He remains in police custody and will be formally charged late Saturday or early Sunday.
