A man, believed to be in his sixties, walked away from an unscheduled landing on the Tsuu T’ina nation Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., emergency responders from the MD of Rocky View fire department, Calgary EMS and RCMP were deployed to the First Nation after reports of a downed plane. At the time of emergency dispatch, the location of the light aircraft and the extent of its damage were not known.

According to EMS spokesperson Stuart Brideaux, the plane was spotted along Big Knife Road on Tsuu T'ina land. The responding EMS crew located the uninjured pilot, who was the lone occupant of the aircraft, and determined he did not require medical attention.

RCMP are investigating the circumstance surrounding the unscheduled landing west of Calgary city limits.
