A state memorial will be held this weekend at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium to honour an Alberta MLA who was killed in a highway crash on Monday.

Manmeet Bhullar was returning to Edmonton from Calgary when he stopped on the QEII Highway north of Red Deer to assist another motorist who had lost control and rolled into the median.

The popular PC MLA was standing outside his vehicle in the median when a truck also lost control on the roadway, hit another vehicle and then slammed into him.

Bhullar, 35, was seriously injured and later died from his injuries

A state memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 29, at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium at noon.

A viewing will also take place on Sunday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and both are open to the public.
