Alberta Health Services say a teenage male has been taken to hospital in life threatening condition after he was hit by a vehicle on Monday morning.
EMS says they were called to the scene of a pedestrian crash at about 7:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Dalhousie Drive just west of 54 Street N.W.
A teenage male was taken to the Alberta Children's Hospital with serious head injuries.
Sgt. Colin Foster with the CPS Traffic Unit says the victim was crossing the street when he was hit by a Toyota Prius.
"The pedestrian, a 13-year-old male, suffered quite serious injuries."
Foster says that police believe he was in the crosswalk at the time of the crash but are asking for more witnesses to come forward.
"At the moment, we are asking anybody who may have seen the collision, if they haven't already come forward, to come forward and help us."
He says they will be looking at a number of different factors in the crash.
"As it stands at the moment, alcohol is not a factor and we are looking at speed or environmental conditions may have contributed to the collision."
Police say the driver remained at the scene and there is no word yet on charges.
