A number of residents of a southwest neighbourhood awoke Saturday morning to discover their vehicles had been defaced by vandals.

At least five vehicles were tagged with swastikas or racial slurs near the intersection of 41 Avenue and 48 Street SW in the community of Glamorgan.

According to residents, vandals have previously targeted the neighbourhood.

“There have been vehicle vandalisms before, actually breaking in, in different ways, and stealing from the cars,” said Connie Pope, one of the vandalism victims. “It’s very unnerving to see this going on. I’m assuming its kids but who knows.”

“The symbols involved in this are not nice to see happening.”

Police are investigating the matter. Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service at 403-266-1234.
