Passengers waiting to board a flight to Kelowna got a present from WestJet airlines, delivered by some special four-legged furry friends.
40 dogs and one cat paraded through the terminal at Calgary airport, presenting each guest with some special gifts tucked away in their collars.
All of the animals are therapy pets from the Pet Access League Society (PALS), an organization chosen to work with the airline for the holiday event.
Each passenger’s assigned animal had a number of gift cards, a donation in their name to PALS and a personalized note.
One particular traveller, a dog lover herself, was delighted by the surprise.
“It’s amazing because I’m just getting home and I miss mine so much, so it’s really nice. They’re all really well behaved,” said Kaitlin Schneider.
WestJet says the event is part of the bigger 12 Days of Christmas campaign.
“12 different days, 12 different celebrations, 12 different surprises; we thought, what better way to do it?” said WestJet spokesperson Lauren Stewart.
The airline will be continuing its campaign in other Canadian cities, but there is no schedule on when or where Santa and his elves will appear next.
