Parks Canada has recovered the body of a 71-year-old Manitoba man from Mount Victoria west of Lake Louise.

Officials say the man slipped while climbing and fell approximately 150 metres.

He suffered fatal injuries in the fall.

Parks Canada was called out to the area at about 6:50 a.m. Wednesday and visitor safety specialists recovered the body later with the assistance of Alpine Helicopters.

The name of the man is not known and police are notifying his family.

RCMP and the medical examiner’s office are investigating and say foul play has been ruled out.
