RCMP are warning about a phone scam that's making the rounds in communities across Southern Alberta.

Investigators say scammers are calling homes and identifying themselves as off duty Brooks RCMP offices looking for donations for Haiti Relief and the Boys and Girls Club.

Homes in Brooks and Lethbridge seem to be the most common targets for the scam.

RCMP officers want to remind the public that they do not solicit funds on behalf of charitable organizations.

Anyone with information that could help police with the case are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
