Looking to attract Canadian shoppers eager to enjoy Black Friday deals, Cadillac Fairview says that 21 properties across the country will be open early on the day after U.S. Thanksgiving.
In Calgary, Chinook Centre and Market Mall will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on November 29.
In addition to the extended hours, the first 100 shoppers to visit Guest Services at each participating location will receive a $10 Cadillac Fairview gift card.
"Canadians want to experience Black Friday, whether it's for the first time or as an alternative to shopping in the U.S.," said Wendy Greenwood, Director of Marketing, Ontario Portfolio. "Shoppers' expectations are constantly being raised and Cadillac Fairview properties provide the unique retail experience that Canadian shoppers are looking for. We are proud to have developed a platform to keep shoppers, and their holiday shopping dollars, in Canada."
Black Friday is held in the U.S. following Thanksgiving and is also considered the beginning of the holiday shopping season.
Officials say that during similar hours in 2012, retailers in Cadillac Fairview locations in Ontario and Manitoba saw significant increases in sales and traffic.
