Every new year is a milestone for Chris and Nancy Christensen. This year, it’s their 70th wedding anniversary with their family all around them.

“They are such an example for us to emulate,” said daughter-in-law Alexandria Eames-Christensen. “It's nice in this day and age to have that kind of stability and know there is something of such endearing strength that doesn't change.”

Chris and Nancy Christensen met in Scotland at the end of the Second World War, and Nancy followed Chris back to Canada.

So what is their secret for a long and happy marriage?

“You’ve got to share with everything not just a few things, it's all 50/50. All the way,” said Chris.

“Just try to understand each other, what each other's views are,” said Nancy. “Sometimes you have an argument and make sure you never go to bed at night without kissing each other      .”

With five children, ten grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren to enjoy, the Christensens say there are still more great years to come.
