A Calgary entrepreneur is sad, but not surprised, to hear about the death of actor Corey Haim.

Emergency crews were called to an apartment building near Los Angeles early Wednesday morning.

Paramedics tried to revive the Canadian-born actor.

Haim was rushed to hospital but died from what police say was an apparent accidental drug overdose.

In the late 80's, Haim was a teen idol appearing in the Lost Boys and several other films.

He struggled with drug addiction for much of his career.

Calgary entrepreneur, Silvio Forigo still has one of the snowboards Haim used in a movie that was shot in Quebec in the mid 1990's.

Forigo was part of a production company that hired the actor for Snowboard Academy and says he remembers Haim's battle with drugs.

Forigo says they would set up for a shoot and Haim was nowhere to be found.

Despite the frustration and delays, Forigo says the actor's talent was obvious. "It's very tragic. We definitely have lost a good actor, no doubt about it."

Some of Haim's neighbours say the death is a shock because the actor appeared to be turning his life around.
