Man charged in 2023 north Calgary shooting incidents: police

2 northwest Calgary homes were struck by bullets early Sunday morning

Police have laid charges in connection with two 2023 shootings in north Calgary.

The first occurred on Nov. 11, 2023, around 4:05 a.m. in the 800 block of Abbotsford Drive N.E.

Police believed multiple people broke into a home, assaulted two adults and demanded money and other items before fleeing the scene.

Gunshots were fired as the suspects left, striking neighbouring homes.

Two adults were taken to hospital with significant injuries.

The next day, police were called to the area of MacEwan Glen Way N.W. around 2 a.m. for reports of a shooting.

Police said shots were fired between two vehicles. No one was injured, but several houses were hit by bullets.

Investigators believed the two shootings were connected.

On Wednesday, police announced a 46-year-old man had been arrested in Edmonton on Dec. 19 and charged with several offences, including break-and-enter to commit robbery, unlawful confinement, two counts of reckless discharge of a firearm and multiple other weapon-related offences.
