Thousands of people converged on the Olympic Oval Saturday to stick handle their way to street hockey supremacy.

It was the seventh annual Cassie Campbell Street Hockey Festival and it was sports celebrities who attracted a lot of attention at centre ice.

The crowd went wild when Curtis Joseph took to the hockey surface.

The former NHL goalie is the superstar player at the hockey festival.

"I'm playing forward, depending on the score, I might move back in net. It's all about winning," commented Joseph.

There was an array of current and former sports celebrities in attendance.

From football stars like Henry Burris, to NHL stars like Ronnie Stern.

"Not to get hurt is my personal strategy. They're making us wear full face helmets this year which is a positive," joked Stern.

To Olympians like Women's Hockey gold medalist Carla MacLeod.

"I'm sure I'll be the go-to. I don't know what I'll be doing out there, God help us all, I'll just go out there and have some fun," said MacLeod.

To sports journalists, like CTV Calgary's Heath Brown.

"Some of them are old and retired and maybe some have gained some weight so I'm hoping to maybe dance around them with my sweet moves," joked Brown.

They've all come together for a fun family event, to raise money for a serious cause, the Ronald McDonald House which is something near and dear to organizer and hockey great Cassie Campbell.

"To me, it's the kids. I've met so many brave kids and courageous young kids and they've given me so much without even knowing it. I have always wanted to just give back to them," said Campbell.

In seven years, Campbell's street hockey festival has raised $1.8-million for Ronald McDonald House.

It's is a home away from home for out of town families whose children are being treated at a Calgary hospital.
