The city has given the go ahead for developers to put together a master plan to create a new mixed-use retail and residential hub in the northwest.
Council approved the Area Redevelopment Plan (ARP) for the Stadium Shopping Centre lands on the corner of 16th Avenue and Uxbridge Drive N.W. on Tuesday.
The 6.1 acre property has been solely owned and managed by Western Securities since 1962 and borders the community of University Heights.
“The approval of this ARP is the first of many steps to successfully design and redevelop the Stadium Shopping Centre lands. We are excited to be moving forward to the next stage of detailed development planning where we can use this blueprint to create a master plan for an innovative dynamic area that will serve this community for decades to come” said Mike Brescia, Vice President with Western Securities and project director for the Stadium Shopping Centre.
The plan is to evolve the mini-mall into a mixed-use local hub that includes retail, residential and office space and a hotel.
